Branch Concedes That Pats Caught A Break On Fumble Reversal
The Pats were the better team on Sunday. However, breaks DO help win games. Would things have developed differently had the Jets been awarded the ball still down 10-7 in the third? Jets LB Calvin Pace was still furious about the call about the game:
“It was a fumble.. And again, the referees missed another one. You know what they’re going to do? They’re going to write us a letter about how they missed another call and what does that do? Nothing.

Patriots haven’t forgotten Jets’ flying circus

To borrow a phrase they remember hearing somewhere, the Patriots can’t wait to face the Jets this fall.

“Those actions that went down after the game? Well, you know, it wasn’t the Super Bowl,” Pats WR Deion Branch, his voice dripping with sarcasm, told The Post in a post-practice interview.

From Bart Scott’s famous “Can’t wait!” postgame exclamation to ESPN to Braylon Edwards’ midfield backflip to numerous Jets running around the field mimicking airplane wings, Branch said all of it went right into the Patriots’ memory bank.

Judging from Branch’s winking smile, those shenanigans no doubt will be recalled in explicit detail in the Patriots’ locker room when the bitter AFC East rivals meet again Oct. 9 in a Week 5 matchup here and once more Nov. 13 at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Asked if what the Jets did would be brought up those two weeks, Branch laughed and said: “They may be.”

Of course, the Jets’ response is that they were merely answering the Patriots’ mocking displays in the second half of a 45-3 New England rout on the same field barely a month before the playoff upset. Branch had amnesia yesterday about the Patriots’ regular-season actions, but what the Jets did was recalled vividly.

“Oh, you remember it,” Branch said.

I think the embarrassing part came after the game with some of the classless guys that they have on their football team. There was a lot of classless [behavior] on the football field after the game. You have to expect that from some of the guys over there.

You could see some of the class from some of the veteran guys. The ones with class, I shook their hands. The other ones, they don’t deserve my nor my teammates’ congratulations, for them to act like that. You can tell they’re not used to being in this position.
Putting Revis on Welker would take away a strong short pass threat but putting him on Branch would take away both a short threat and a long threat. It’s like placing two castaways on Revis Island instead of one.
