The fact that he reached out to me,” Federico said. “The fact that he took the time to meet with me in his insanely busy schedule … He’s just a wonderful, humble person. He didn’t have to do that, especially after everything had kind of died down for the most part.

“We talked more about matters of faith [and] reconciliation. We talked about our shared Christian values and what we’re both trying do with this situation … We didn’t talk about the headline for more than three minutes.

Jeremy Lin meets with ex-ESPN headline writer

It is the first step in restoring my good name and reputation. We were able to get through this because I am innocent and the truth is on our side. We provided complete cooperation throughout, despite the highly unusual circumstances.

Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers • On the reversal of his 50-game suspension. Braun, the most recent NL MVP, challenged a recent drug-related penalty and was successful in overturning it. Because his urine sample was not sent to the testing facility on the same day it was collected, the MLB Players Association announced the decision’s reversal. Not everyone agrees with this decision; Travis Tygart, the CEO of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, claimed this reversal to be ”a real gut-kick to clean athletes.” source (viafollow)

BILL PARCELLS ON MARK SANCHEZ
“He’s a developing player, just like all young quarterbacks, and there’s going to be some good and some not-so-good. Before you can drive a Cadillac you have to be able to drive a Ford. If they get everything good around him, I think it will go well. Right now, I don’t think he can take the team completely on his shoulders.”

Branch Concedes That Pats Caught A Break On Fumble Reversal
The Pats were the better team on Sunday. However, breaks DO help win games. Would things have developed differently had the Jets been awarded the ball still down 10-7 in the third? Jets LB Calvin Pace was still furious about the call about the game:
“It was a fumble.. And again, the referees missed another one. You know what they’re going to do? They’re going to write us a letter about how they missed another call and what does that do? Nothing.

“Patriots fans are sick of Ryan and the Jets. Tom Brady and Wes Welker are sick of Ryan and the Jets. The Krafts are sick of Ryan and the Jets.

But no one hates hearing about the Jets more than Belichick. When you are the new Lombardi, the greatest coach of the modern era, it’s no fun hearing that Rex Ryan has beaten you three times in five (now six) meetings.

It no fun reading that while you have failed to win a playoff game since the 2007 AFC Championship Game, the Jets under Ryan have won four playoff games, all on the road. So it was satisfying to spank the Jets, 30-21, yesterday at Gillette.”

The Jet Report: As if it’s been fun for the last decade to hear about the guy who left the Jets at the podium ten years ago. It works both ways. Enjoy the win New England. The Pats were the better team. Don’t think you’re the only ones having to listen to the other side though. You should’ve been here the past ten years.  (via thejetreport)

MARK SANCHEZ SPORTS ILLUSTRATED COVER
First it was the GQ cover, now it’s SI for the “Sanchise.” Funny, and to think that WFAN radio legend Mike Francesa, a constant Jet basher, said prior to the Cowboys game that the team doesn’t have enough of a fan base to fill it’s own stadium up. Sorry Mike, if anything, the fan base is not only here, it’s growing nationally too.
Mark Sanchez is the number 15 top selling jersey. Crosstown QB Eli Manning isn’t even in the top 25. The Jets are also ninth in the NFL in team sales. Not bad for a club that according to Francesa (a lifelong Giants fan), doesn’t have enough fans to fill up seats at home games.
Either way, we don’t care about how many out there love Gang Green. Jets faithful not seeking any popularity, of King of NYC awards. The true diehards just want the chance to compete for the Vince Lombardi trophy year in, year out. With Sanchez the winner, they have that opportunity do so again. For the third straight season.
