Kevin Youkilis has a great interview to Steve Silva over at Boston.com in which he is very honest and open about the team’s collapse and what things actually transpired over the last few months. Assuming you’re not a shell shocked Red Sox fan, it’s definitely worth a read. 

However, when asked about whether or not players were drinking beer in the clubhouse on off days, Youkilis clammed up: 

“The Red Sox third baseman wouldn’t say whether or not there was a beer-filled cooler in the locker room.

“I mean, that’s another thing too, that’s… I don’t know if that’s been out there, that’s in the media, what we have and what we don’t have,” Youkilis said. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say if there is or there isn’t.”

The Red Sox third baseman wouldn’t say whether or not there was a beer-filled cooler in the locker room.

While that doesn’t seem like much of an answer, I’m fairly certain that Steve Silva left out a few context clues that could help the reader. I have taken the liberty of providing those: 

“I mean, that’s another thing too, that’s… I don’t know if that’s been out there, that’s in the media, what we have and what we don’t have,” Youkilis said. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say if there is (winks, nods head) or there isn’t (shakes head. Mouths ‘there is.’ Points in direction of coolers.)”
