The centerpiece of SportsNet New York’s community involvement, the SNY (basketball) Invitational, concluded yesterday. The ultimate winners were the kids and their schools.
SNY boss Steve Raab and his crew - along with MetroPCS - made donations totaling more than $75,000 in scholarships and funds to the participating schools (Rice, Mount Vernon, St. Anthony, Boys & Girls).
Also, SNY helped spruce up the St. Anthony gym with an array of new equipment. It also donated new computers to all the schools in the tournament.
Raab wants to make an even greater commitment next year. During its four-year history, the SNY Invitational has raised and distributed more than $150,000. Nice. - Bob Raissman
