Yankees to wear different uniforms against Red Sox

Thanks to the Yankees agreeing to cooperate with the Red Sox and their celebration of the 100-year anniversary of Fenway Park on Friday.

The uniform and hat are modeled after the 1912 New York Highlanders uniform.

Mets Emerge From Shadow of Darkness, Take Place Among Best Uniforms in Baseball

The Mets, in order to match their reputation under Steve Phillips and then Omar Minaya, tended to shroud themselves in black, like they were the villain in a two-bit pulp novel or the ninjas that get routinely beaten in a Steven Seagal film.

But with Sandy Alderson about to head into his second season, the Let’s Gos were able to strip the dementors that hung around their uniforms, banishing the black-and-blue cap and returning the pinstripes to their home uniform. While black will remain an alternate in 2012 before fading away for good in 2013, Uni-Watch reports that “There are no plans to bring back any of the black elements.”

That’s probably the best news Mets fans could hope for barring Johan Santana discovering that he has multiple clones of himself, all aged 25 and all with healthy arms, that are contractually obligated to the Mets.

Sports’ All-Time Ugliest Uniforms

This White Sox uni gets my vote.

See the rest here. Which would you deem the ugliest?

Sox and Cubs wearing throwback uni’s

No uni changes for the Yankees (there’s a shocker), but it’s worth noting that Mariano Rivera has gone high-cuffed throughout spring training and says he’ll probably stick with that look during the regular season because it makes him “feel lighter.” If a player as respected and influential as Big Mo starts showing some sock on a regular basis, that can only bode well for the state of baseball hosiery.

No official changes for the Mets, although Uni Watch hears through the grapevine that they will probably be wearing their black alternate jersey a bit less this season, which of course counts as good news. Also: D.J. Carrasco, who wore an assortment of logo-emblazoned stirrups last year for the Pirates, is going a similar route now that he’s a Met. - Uni Watch
